Important things

Remember this? Yep, I do not know where the time has gone. Those four weeks have flown by.

Since then, we have been doing really important things...

...like taking our kids to see Toy Story 3.
It took forever for the movie to get to the dollar theater, but it was worth the wait, and we all had fun. Even Rose sat through all of it. Their favorite part? "The light at the end of the tunnel."

You know, the point at which our heroes find themselves in mortal peril. "That was your favorite part?" "Yes." "What was going to happen to them?" "I don't know."

I'm pretty sure it was completely over their heads. Awesome.

...like making another trip to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler.
The penguin feeding show was a hit once again, and after initial enthusiasm for the snake house, we had to beat a quick retreat to avoid some amphibian/reptile/insect induced hysteria in a certain little boy.

...like taking Rose to her long overdue 18-month well check. I got to spend some quality time with Rose, since we got there 15 minutes early, received a packet of paperwork to fill out 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, and received several more papers the receptionist forgot to include after we'd been there for one hour.

Yes, that was my child sitting on the chair next to me ripping up a magazine page by page. And I don't feel at all apologetic for it. At least she wasn't trying to open the door every five minutes or screaming at the top of her lungs for ten minutes straight. We were finally seen by (fortunately) a very sweet doctor and nurses. Two hours and three shots after we got there, we still had to go by the grocery store, by way of Dairy Queen for a pumpkin pie Blizzard.
Thank you, Nana and Pa, for taking care of Ellen who threw up 10 minutes after I left. She was fine by the time I got home with chicken soup for dinner and popsicles for dessert.

...like taking Jack Jack to have a couple of small cavities filled. "We'll just use laughing gas. They're really small." That's what they told me when they sent me to make a return appointment after getting Ellen, Jack Jack, and Rose's teeth all cleaned. My thoughts? "My daughter had to be completely sedated. That will be interesting."

When we returned, the dental hygienist asked me if I'd be going back with him. "Yes. He's three." She then informed me they would not be able to use laughing gas. "What?!? Why not?" "Aren't you pregnant?" Um, yes, yes I am. So I did go with him, and he did awesome, even with the lying back in the chair, wearing sun glasses so he wouldn't stare at the exam light, having his mouth propped open by "the clicker", being only topically numbed, and having his teeth rinsed, blown dry, drilled, and filled. He did awesome at raising his hand when he wanted them to stop, and we only had one meltdown, right before they decided to numb him up a little. (Good thinking, dentist.)

And since he was doing so great and they didn't want to push him, they only filled two cavities, and made a return appointment for him to go back and have the other two filled. Thanks. Good luck with that, Daddy or Nana or Pa.

...like making weekly trips to Dallas for various doctor appointments. I love making a four and a half hour round trip drive for a 35 minute appointment, where I am hooked up to a monitor for a non-stress test, weighed, measured, and blood pressure tested. And without fail, a big deal is made about my blood pressure being nice and low.

...like taking our kids to the East Texas Yamboree. Food, rides, parades, animals, the Yam Queen and attendants, music, and lots of people.

Things I have not been doing:
Packing a suitcase. Washing baby clothes. Thinking about how I am not looking forward to a c-section. You know, little details. I will probably be up late tonight doing just those things, as the kids and I are leaving tomorrow to spend the weekend with cousins.

Look for news Monday :)

Good luck, good luck, good luck! I hope it all goes well and you have you're beautiful little baby in you're arms as soon as can be. As always, you're wonderful attitude inspires me. Tell the kids and Jack "hi" for us.
