Elijah spent the rest of the day and night yesterday sedated, on oxygen and monitors. This morning he woke up hungry and mad when the food didn't come. His left hand is all bandaged up with an IV, and that's the hand he sucks on, so the boy was frustrated and letting us all know about it.
He finally got an ounce of pedialyte, followed by the go-ahead for breast milk. He immediately downed two 40 mL bottles, and he can have 80 mL every three hours. That's two and two-thirds ounces, and about half of his normal intake. If he tolerates that, they'll increase his rations tomorrow.
Now that his pacer wires are out, I get to hold him, too. Not sure how I feel about that when he knows I'm the food source, and he feels a bit deprived.
Thank you, Nana, Pa, Grandma, and Grandpa, for visiting yesterday!
