I'm grateful today for naps and bedtimes. My kids have all been very reluctant nappers, and Elijah was no different, crying every time we've put him in his bed for just about the last two years. That was until I watched my sister-in-law, who was visiting with her almost two-year-old, take her son in for a nap, and he was happy to go. He also gets quiet time in his crib in the morning and afternoon for about 20 minutes, to look at books or play. (Right, Jenny?)
Right after their visit I started telling Elijah when it was time for a nap, and acting like it was the greatest treat in the world. He fussed less and less, and now he usually goes to bed with no crying, and most days with a smile on his face. I'm dumbfounded that it took me four children to figure this one out.
Rose took a long nap today, too, when she put her head down on the couch as I was folding a mountain of laundry, waiting for her turn to pick a movie. My choice was apparently too boring, because she was out in about 10 minutes. Good thing I had lots of clothes and towels to fold and put away.
Time for bed for me, too.
